The first issue of the Journal of Caribbean Literatures was first published in the Spring, 1997, and is listed as Volume One, Number 1.   This issue featured articles by Kenneth Ramchand, Lindsay  Aegerter, Astrid Roemer, David Hoegberg, and Daryl Dance; fiction by Alecia McKenzie and Opal Adisa; poetry by Vincent Cooper, Jean Goulbourne, Laurence Lieberman and Thomas Reiter,  a review of Wilson Harris by Kerry Johnson, and book reviews by Kwame Dawes. There are a few copies of the issue left, and if new subscribers want this inaugural issue, they should write to the editor, Dr. Maurice A. Lee at the University of Central Arkansas, College of Liberal Arts, 201 Donaghey Avenue, 120 Irby Hall, Conway, Arkansas  72035-0001, and request a special copy.  Cost of this issue is $25.00.  There are a limited number of copies, so those interested should contact the editor as soon as possible.  The journal suspended operations shortly thereafter due to the editor receiving a Fulbright Senior Scholarship award, a severe reduction in staff,  and a change in administration. The current issue on Wilson Harris represents the journals reemergence into the academic community. The journal is assured of maintaining publication and has two issues now ready for distribution and two others being readied for the press.  The editor thanks its original subscribers for their patience and their support in the transition of the homebase of the journal from Iowa to its permanent home in Arkansas.
